Upon hearing that the British are planning a scorched earth policy, a respected Boer officer, who's also a loving father and husband, decides to go home and protect his wife and family instead of participating further in the war. The decision leads to a treason trial for him and his sons.
A film about the Anglo-Boer War. The story plays in 1901 where all women wear heavy Victorian dresses and Voortrekkerkappies. It tells a story of James van Aswegen played by Gys de Villiers, a respected commander in the war, who decides to go home in order to keep his farm and family safe instead of fighting the British. His wife then suffers from severe humilliation because of her husbands actions and it drives her to madness.
