"Music teacher Adéle happily shares a house with her best friend Louise, a ballet teacher. All that changes, though, when a woman from Adéle's past brings news about the boy Adéle gave up for adoption 12 years ago. Learning that he is living in an orphanage after the death of his adoptive parents, Adéle allows all her suppressed maternal feelings to come flooding back. Setting out to befriend the boy, she sends him a parcel signed "with love from Adéle". The two begin corresponding, and a close friendship develops. But Louise is unhappy with this new development, and actively discourages Adéle from bringing the boy home. She wants to know why Adéle is so interested in orphans all of a sudden and this one in particular.
