Nianell se vertellings oor haar persoonlike ondervindings sal elkeen
Knowing Who I Am / (eBook) . 2011STRUIK
she goes and performs, the famous and popular South African singer and
celebrity, Nianell, offers this important and inspiring message: Every
one of us may, can and should love ourselves. If we can do this, we will
touch people around us and thereby make a difference in their lives. In
her first book, Knowing who I am, the acclaimed singer tells of the
lessons life has taught her and how she discovered how to love herself.
Nianell takes the reader with her on her life's journey from a shy,
withdrawn schoolgirl to the person she is today, and shares what she
learned about herself and her life along the way. Just like the rest of
us, her life has been a journey of discovery that was sometimes quite
difficult. She does not shy away from sharing in an honest, transparent
and unpretentious way her personal experience of suffering, the struggle
to belong, love, womanhood, being a mother of triplets and being a
star. Above all, says Nianell, she has learned that each of us can and
must love ourselves - and always have to remember who we really are. She
uses various personal stories, many shared with the public for the
first time, to illustrate how she herself came to the point of accepting
herself and always remembering who she is. Nianell's descriptions of
her personal experiences will touch everyone's heart and give people
insight into her life and the fact that celebrities face the same issues
which we all wrestle with. Her stories will inspire you and help you
realise the value of accepting and loving yourself as you are. Knowing
who I am is an enjoyable combination of biography and inspiration - it
is a reading and growth experience that will remain with you long after
you have finished the book. With the book comes a special bonus CD
containing some of Nianell's hit songs..
The multi-awarded singer and songwriter, Nianell, who gave birth to triplets Jade Andrea, Tayden Amber and Kaeley Paige last year, is back with another breathtaking album. I KNOW I AM LUCKY is produced by Mauritz Lötz who worked on several key Nianell songs, including "Life's Gift" and "I'll Find A Way". This is Nianell's fourth album and is again a bilingual release that sees the singer and songwriter duet with Juanita du Plessis.
The new Afrikaans songs include "Land Van Sonskyn", "Sy Word Onthou", and "Diep In Jou Hart", a song she wrote specially for her husband, Andrew. The album also features one song she translated from English to Afrikaans "Vryheid Om Te Wees" as well as the title song which Nianell wrote long before she knew she was expecting triplets. "Since then this song gave more meaning to my life," she says adding "I would like to convey this message to people that if you have a positive attitude in life, it can also bring you luck." Nianell has already finalised 45 shows for 2008 including a performance at the Klein Karoo Nasionale Arts Festival in Oudtshoorn. Nianell's three previous albums are WHO PAINTED THE MOON?, ANGEL TONGUE and LIFE'S GIFT. She has been awarded two South African Music Awards - best English adult contemporary and best female song writer ("We'll Find A Way"). Nianell recorded a DVD - titled AS ONE - of her biggest hits at Emperor's Palace last year and it has already gained gold status.
In November 2007 she finalised a deal to release a compilation album with her biggest 16 hits in Indonesia and Singapore. Highlights in 2007 include the Huisgenoot/You director of the charity organisation Proud Partners, which donated more than 15 keyboards to underprivileged schools in Cape Town and helped more than 15 teachers and 45 pupils to obtain music lessons on a regular basis.
Nianell is one of South Africa's most accomplished singer, songwriters and performers. Over the years she has earnes an extensive fanbase as well as critical acclaim for her sensitively written and beautifully performed material.
AS ONE was recorded live at Emperor's Palace and proved to be a huge success with fans who turned out in their throngs for what was a magical live performance and musical experience.
The evening saw Nianell perform material off all three of her previously recorded albums, "Who Painted The Moon? ", "Angel Tongue", and "Life's Gift ".
AS ONE is possibly one of the best live DVD's to have ever been performed and recorded in South Africa.
