Private detective Spek Poggenpoel calls in his taxi driver friend Boontjie to help him sort out a delicate matter: swapping one very expensive necklace for another. This task sets the two off on a wild goose chase during which they don one outfit after the other to outfox a motley crew of pursuers with an interest in the jewellery: thieves, secret police agents, and the necklace's lawful owners.
