From the tender age of five Vusi Khumalo always knew that he was born to be a musician, at that age he was already listening to the best of the jazz musicians and entertainers of that era, carrying a 45' vinyl of Jimmy Smith's MOJO to school and standing outside the late legendary saxophonist Kippie Moeketsi's house to hear him playing his saxophone, and so began the journey of a legend. In the year 2000 his debut album Follow your Dream was nominated for both the Kora Awards and SAMA Awards. From an early age he knew he was a musician and his dream in deed came true. 10. Song For The Gurus

"I've always had this dream of recording an album with South African musicians playing alongside some of the best musicians in the world. I'm also telling my people that this country is unique, that musically, audiences haven't learnt to appreciate what they have available to them. In a way it's a plea to give South African musicians a chance."
The album features the stunning vocal duo of Mark Anthony (who has worked with Incognito) and Elizabeth Troy, Shaluza Max, Lawrence Matshiza, Themba Mkhize, Fana Zulu, Bakithi Kumalo and from the Cuban group Irakere Jose Miguel Melendez Alarc..n. The horn section Vusi uses on the recording is largely a British one and includes Byron Wallen, James McMillan, Noel Langley, Dave Bitelli and Nana Tsiboe, with the exception of Cuban trumpeter Basilio Bernardo Marques Richards and South African saxophonist Khaya Mahlangu. Produced by the late Russell Herman.
