Prisoners sang to comfort and entertain each other, as well as communicate, maintain solidarity. These men and women were held in Number Four Prison (Old Fort in Constitution Hill, Bramfontein) between 1959 and 1965. Thousands of people imprisoned in this Jail for breaking a host of laws that told them where they should live. Music played a pivotal role in this prison where people sang and composed music that was relevant to their situations at the time in No. 4. This album is dedicated to all political prisoners.
