Die gewildheid, besondere bakwaamheid en styl van die Diensvakskoolorkes van 1972 het aanleiding gegee tot die maak van hierdie plaat.
Gewilde liedjies soos "Amazing Grace" is verwerk om by Militêre behoeftes aan te pas. Geen wonder dat die jong soldate op hul pronkerigste vertoon het toe hul deur dié orkes begelei was nie.
Hoewel elke lid sy besondere bydrae gelewer het, kom spesiale lof toe aan sersant-majoor "oom Joe" Slabbert; onder sy bekwame leiding is die orkes afgerig en afgerond.
No other Military Band, consisting of National Servicemen, has ever achieved the standard of popularity enjoyed by the 1972 Services' School Band.
Although each member had been selected for his individual talent, nobody could ever have dreamed that these young men would be moulded into a group whose skilful playing and style and polish as instrumentalists would make them so sought after for military functions and parades throughout the Republic.
It Is Important to note that "making music" was only a secondary task for the band members who are fully trained to make their contribution to the machines of war. - omslag
