Beau Brummel
16th of December in South Africa is known as the 'Day of Reconciliation'.
59 years ago, Beau Brummell's father took him, aged 7, to the inauguration of the Voortrekker Monument in 1949. The inauguration was attended by 250,000 'boere' and it was there that the monument was unveiled with memories of Blood River,
the Afrikaner nation and the mighty Zulu nation under Dingaan. His father (British) - who had huge respect for the 'Boerevolk' - made him swear an allegiance to the Afrikaner and to South Africa. His father taught him that it is important to look after all the 'tribes' that make part of our beautiful country, from the Zulus, to the Boerevolk to the Sothos and even the Xoi-San Bushman - without protecting these 'tribes', South Africa will lose its identity, its beauty, pride and dignity.Beau Brummell was born in Pretoria in 1942. He was raised along the Crocodile River by a beautiful 'African mum' who taught him how to sing and dance to the drums, to fear the Tokoloshe, revere the Sangoma and believe in 'ancestors'. As a 'Rooinek' and patriot to South Africa, Beau visits the Voortrekker Monument every year to re-live the proud spirit of the Voortrekkers and in memory of his late father, who took Beau to this spiritual place to salute the bravepioneering Afrikaners & Zulus of Southern Africa.
On the 16th of December 2008, as the sun shines down on the inscription 'Ons Vir Jou Suid-Afrika', Beau Brummell will kneel in front of the monument and swear his allegiance to our country and stand strong against the eradicating of our history.

Môre Behoort Aan Ons is the first single off Beau Brummell's first Afrikaans album, Môre Behoort Aan Ons. The inspiration for the album came from Beau's visit to the Voortrekker Monument last year. "Dit was asof 'n stem het vir my gesê - Help hierdie mense om hulle hoop te bou vir die toekoms."
Beau Brummell will be featured on kykNET's, Kwela on the 14th of January 2009 - for a nostalgic and exciting walk down memory lane over the past 50 years of the history of Beau Brummell.
